Camera Tests - Testing a digital camera by measuring characteristics

This article is about Camera Tests.

Most amateurs wont test a digital camera themselves, but they may somehow be required to read, understand and evaluate the data and results of someones else´s camera tests, when they go shopping for their next camera or reading techical information about a desired camera. Here are some few bulletpoints, which I find interesting and valuable, when testing a new camera.

Its important to establish, that almost any wellknown camerabrand, produces its cameras from an ISO-standard. ISO-Standards are well-known, and makes it possibel to compare and evaluate a given standard, regarding to any product, inclusive cameras and lenses. Be aware, that certain characteristics are more important for digital cameras, than conventional cameras.

Dont put your whole descisionmaking on one camera, based on a test, do ALWAYS rely to circumstances and real common sense descisions too.

To acquire a decent information about a didigtal camera, a couple of charateristic values seem to be of speciel interest, while others seem to be mandatory or optinal.

Few mandatory issues;

- Opto electronic conversion function
- Digital values
- Resolution
- Sharpness

Then, other issues are recommended or optinal.

Camera Tests - How to test a digital camera in a fast way

This article is about Camera Tests and gives you a fast way to test a digital camera.

I´m sorry to say it, but most people dont even know, what they are bying, when shopping for a new camera.

It must be said, that eventhough many cameras look the same, they do certainly not perform the same. The question is, how can you tell a good camera from a bad one ?

Here are 4 easy steps, which would lead you on a way to descision !

1) Switch on the camera. How long time, would it take for the camera to be in a mode of readiness. Immediately or seconds after switching.

2) Test the foucs of the camera. Focus in on something very close to you and then do focus on something far away and then go back to a close focus again. You have to stress the autofocus, to test if its fast or slow. If you have a slow focus, you will proberly acknowledge, that children, animals and sportsevents is not a good combination to your autofocus.

3) Do a capture test. Press the capture button and see the results. How long time does it actually take to capture a picture ? A good camera, will take the photo instantly.

4) Check your CCD (Charged coupling device). Get a professionel to do this, along your side. Testing crystals/pixels is not a job for amateurs.

One of the best advices to give on, when performing camera tests, is to seek help from an expert or one of your friends, who knows about cameras.
Hopefully, you wont buy a cat in the bag.

Camera Tests - How to use your digital camera

This article is about camera tests and works also as a small guide for using a digital camera.

Many people doesnt know to pick the right camera. If you want a digital camera, go for a camera, that has at least 4 mega pixels and a 3x optical zoom. A 4 mega pixel resolution is an absolut minimum requirement, if you would like to submit your pictures to a sales site.

You should choose a optical zoom, instead of a digital zoom. The reason for this is, that digital zoom will create extra pixels based on exsisting ones to fill your photos with unuseful "paint".

Go use and investigate the scenemodes. Almost every camera today has a scene mode. Use the right scenemode according to the kind of photos, you want to produce.
A good tip for taken pictures of children, is putting the camera on sports mode, which allows suddenly movements.

Many photographs wants to use a tripod. I dont. I want to have the camera in my hands, so I get suddenly and quick shots. These shots are to the most a bit more funny, than having made pictures from a tripod.

Learn to use the white balance button, if the camera has one.

Learn to use the flash to control background contrast.

If it is possibel, then go planning your photos in the favour of light and contrast.

You have to do several camera tests on your new camera, to make it works the best to you.

Camera Tests - How to test a new digital Camera

This article is a small guide for doing Camera Tests.

Like any other product, that you purchase - when you first buy a new digital camera, take it for a testdrive and do make sure, that everything on the camera is functioning correctly. Do not accept any errors related to your product, if its not working properly, get an exchange.

Good customer-policy is, to let you bring in the camera, without any penalty for up to two or four weeks after purchase date.

When the purchase date limit has passed on, and you are having trouble, get to your authorized camera dealer and have that camera fixed on a guarantee.

It most likely, that to test a digital camera, go use it. When you do one or several camera tests, you should shoot all kind of subjects - also in and out, flash on and off, low light and so on.

If your Camera has a LCD display, make sure all pixels are functioning.

If the test doesn´t seem to work well and the camera doesn´t seem as it was, when you unwrapped it and tried it for the first time, try to RESET IT. Hitting the reset button means, that the camera is returning to factory default and you can hopefully start over again and learn your way around the new camera.

If your camera exhibits one or more of the following issues, go exchange it !!

A) Hot pixels
B) Light drop
C) Fringing
D) Vignetting
E) Corner softness

Never stay satisfied with a bad product.

Good look on your photos and camera testing.

Camera Tests - Canon Powershot SD 960 IS

This article is about Cameratests and Canon Powershot.

In my opinion, the Canon Powershot SD 960 IS has smooth contours and are very easy to hold. It has a compact house, which is good for transportation. You can get this nice camera in pastels. It comes with a 12.1 megapicel and 4x optical zoom lens.

This nice camera has a range of automatic features. The Canon DS 960 IS even shoots videos.

I like to do cameratests and the DS 960 IS is a small and handy little camera. It is an ELPH camera, which is a sign of great performance, good exposure, nice colours and simpel quality.

The camera is good to hold. It is also pocketfriendly, which is a big plus - when using it for holidays and vacations. Due to the reason, that it is a small camera, I strongly recommend, to use the strap. It is easy to drop the camera, due to size of it.

Controls are few on the Canon SD 960. Almost spartaniac, which also could be charming. Not every user has to pick a fancy camera with 20 buttons. Its really straightforward. It has a wide range of scenemodes, but will assess the automatic mode for a start.

Its an easy to use camera with minimal controls to handle.

The camera is equipped with a 3.7 volt lithium battery, which can last about 200 exposures. This is not much for a new camera in this category, so I recommend to bring a spare battery and always a charger.

Camera Tests - UnderwaterCameras

This article is about cameratests.

When the calender hits June or July, we hit for the forest or the beach. When you reach the beach and wants to cool your body down, it is very nice to bring a camera, which you dont want to worry about getting wet. Perhaps, you could even bring the camera into the water.

You dont want to do a cameratest or several cameratests for your new cameras in the water. Let a prof. do it for you in a comparative test.

You have the oppertunity to buy a waterproof camera. Waterproof digital cameras have excisted in a good quality since 2002. The development of the cameras have been following along the same pattern as ordinary cameras.

The current generation of waterproff cameras all feature non-extending lenses. Not all of waterproff cameras are dustproff and schokproff, eventhoug i think - this should be standard.

Waterproff cameras are very attractive, especially in the summertime.

If you have the oppertunity, you should borrow to or three underwater cameras - and do your own cameratests to see, which camera performs in and outside water.
