Camera Tests - Testing a digital camera by measuring characteristics

This article is about Camera Tests.

Most amateurs wont test a digital camera themselves, but they may somehow be required to read, understand and evaluate the data and results of someones else´s camera tests, when they go shopping for their next camera or reading techical information about a desired camera. Here are some few bulletpoints, which I find interesting and valuable, when testing a new camera.

Its important to establish, that almost any wellknown camerabrand, produces its cameras from an ISO-standard. ISO-Standards are well-known, and makes it possibel to compare and evaluate a given standard, regarding to any product, inclusive cameras and lenses. Be aware, that certain characteristics are more important for digital cameras, than conventional cameras.

Dont put your whole descisionmaking on one camera, based on a test, do ALWAYS rely to circumstances and real common sense descisions too.

To acquire a decent information about a didigtal camera, a couple of charateristic values seem to be of speciel interest, while others seem to be mandatory or optinal.

Few mandatory issues;

- Opto electronic conversion function
- Digital values
- Resolution
- Sharpness

Then, other issues are recommended or optinal.
